Cheer Up! It’s B&G day!

Hello, Hello, Hello!
Today I’ve got the inspiration! Today it won’t be another “I’ll write some stuff tomorrow” kind of day! Today is (after three long months!) B&G day!!!
How’s everybody doing? I hope you’re enjoying this stunning British Summertime as much as I do… #KillMeNow

But let’s not complain about the weather (as it is just the effing weather) – Let me tell you instead what happened in the B&G world since we last spoke:

  • B&G suffered the Brexit quite a lot. We are very offended and we’re now thinking on leaving the London HQ to move somewhere else. Siberia maybe. Or the Mali desert. Once the decision is made, we will let you know!
  • B&G appeared to both Isle of Wight and Glastonbury festivals!
  • B&G had the pleasure to shake hands with Henry Rollins from Black Flag and Tim Commerford from RATM.
  • B&G won’t be B&G without food in abundance; eating like there’s no tomorrow and there’s no today is our motto, so we’ll surely talk a little bit about what appeared in the menu during these three months of silence.

Let’s start from the political side of things…

cunts

Really? Do you really want that? Come on guys… Just look at these two pricks up here! Are words really needed? All is f+++ed up at the moment and me writing about Brexit & ignorance attached to it won’t certainly change things.

What about some music stuff? We all love music! And Glastonbury! And being very excited to tell people we’ve been there and how great it was! And how we’re looking forward to get tickets for next year (even before the damn thing has started)! And to bitch about how cool is this and how awesome is that all over Facebook just to make jealous who couldn’t get a ticket and to piss well off who could not give a flying F++K about Glasto!

I’m still shocked about the quantify of mud and how many times I got stuck into it to realise if I enjoyed the Worthy Farm experience this year or if I simply didn’t have the best of times. I loved the music though, as you normally do when some great bands are involved – Here’s my top 3:
1. LCD Soundsystem
2. Kurt Vile
3. PJ Harvey

I don’t have a top 3 for the Isle of Wight festival – Although I was amazed by YAK at the Jack Daniels stage and I was VERY impressed by Richard Ashcroft and his band rocking the main stage on the Saturday afternoon (just before The Who, which I found so bloody boring). I also played with my band for the second year in a row – We went out as a duo this time, we had a blast and, just to make the whole thing unforgettable, we had a tent full of people watching us!!

And what to say about Iggy Pop and his Post Pop Depression tour? Wow! I’m still speechless! Just to give you an idea: Take Iggy’s never-ending energy > add to it the quality/music intelligence/coolness of Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen and Dean Fertita from QOTSA > ask Matt Sweeney to play some grooves on the bass guitar and Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys to smash it on drums > place everything inside a packed Royal Albert Hall for a couple of hours and… KABOOOOM! THE U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E SHOW is served!

Even a slightly crippled Henry Rollins (which I’ve met briefly before the show) danced during the entire set!

Last but not least: Tim Commerford from Rage Against The Machine and his new side project Wakrat – They’re a powerful trio with some great bass lines combined perfectly with some serious drumming and some loud and distorted guitar riffs! Zack de la Rocha on vocals would make a huge difference, but I’ll have to say Tim is actually a pretty good singer!

That’s it for now B&G friends/amici/amigos/amis. We love you all so much! Just to give you an idea we love you as much as we love food… And, even if in this post we mainly talked about music, you know we do love food a lot… And we also love A LOT of food (obviously)! We believe these are some pretty good reasons to keep following us here on WordPress and on Instagram, where you’ll be able to see in more details where and how our diet keeps constantly failing.

Hasta la proxima X

Less bombs, More Pizzetta!

I can’t really complain about how things works here in the UK. I’m in love with the Royals and on the whole the way the country is run, BUT I believe that start bombing here and there will just mess up things even more so I’m not totally proud of the country I’m living in at the moment..

Anyway, I’m not here to talk about that and you, dear B&G lovers, know that very well! I am here to talk about PIZZA and its many healing skills…

Am I the only one thinking that pizza is one of the best things ever invented? Probably not!

Some say it’s an Italian invention, some says it’s Turkish, some others says it’s Egyptian… I really don’t care who gave birth to that orgasmic mix of flavours – All I care about is eating as much pizza as I can and make sure I always get to try the new good pizza meccas in town…

… Like ‘Pizzetta’!

I was invited recently to try some pizzette at their South Kensington branch (Thanks Charles for that) and both me and my sister (100% Italians) were very impressed for the following reasons:

  • Atmosphere: Great and very Italian! A lovely Christmas tree with Panettone boxes as decorations, a warm smell coming from the combination of coffee/hot pizzas/love/fresh ingredients and a big TV where you can watch both Serie A and Champions League.
  • Big choices offered even without a menu: Don’t expect to go there and waste your time reading a menu – Time is very important when it comes to pizza eating so just walk in, choose 2/3 slices, order a Peroni or a coke, take a seat, eat!
  • Lovely staff: Valentina’s smile and kindness will make you forget about pizza for a second or two and that in my opinion kinda says it all.

New pizza flavours every day! And fresh ingredients!

They also do Italian Aperitivi, with good/cheap Spritz served and some pizza for free, so if you’re bored of the Premier League and watery pints  served by grumpy bartenders head down to Pizzetta to see Serie A, drink/eat some good stuff served with a smile and, if you’re in the right mood, learn some proper Italian swearing.

Can’t close a blog post without adding some music stuff…

Thursday 12th November – Gutterdämmerung screening/teaser – Kentish Town Forum

Gutterdämmerung - HR
Henry Rollins – Gutterdämmerung – Kentish Town Forum

Henry Rollins, Grace Jons, Jesse Hughes, Dave Catching… All together on the same stage for some good loud music and a little teaser of Gutterdämmerung, the loudest silent (not really silent though) movie ever existed, which also features Iggy Pop, Joshua Homme, Slash etc.

That was such a fun and at the same time unusual night, where everyone walked in without knowing what to expect and walked out with a big satisfied smile on the face.

If you’re curious and would like to know more you should take a look at the video here below:

Jesse and Dave were having such a great time on stage and it gives me the chills thinking that the next day they almost lost their lives playing the Bataclan with their band Eagles Of Death Metal…

Have a great Christmas everybody… And watch this space as I might be writing about some family Xmas time cooking real soon…

Peace, Love, Death Metal ❤
